Digg and DiggNation Episodes
Digg and DiggNation Episodes
Subject: Digg and DiggNation Episodes

DiggNationBack when Alex Albrecht and Kevin Rose started with their DiggNation vodcast (video podcast), I watched the first few episodes they did. The reason I watched them was that I was playing with iTunes, found podcasts and then vodcasts and watched most of them that were out there at the time like tikibar, hak.5, systm and a few others that didn’t stick.

Due to the fact that they were a pain to grab (torrents and slow servers) and took hours to download, I didn’t keep up with them.

While watching the DiggNation vodcast for a few episodes, Digg was never for me. Now that I run a website and need all the traffic I can get, I turned to AddThis to allow easy sharing and noticed Digg has gotten quite popular.

Revision3This made me check back to revision3.com and start watching diggnation again from the very first episode.

While watching the old episodes, I had a lot of fun and were on the ground laughing regularly. At this time, I’m up to episode 44 and have been downloading the Large XviD episodes for the last 6 episodes. Something I’ve noticed is that the download links of the various encoded videos get reordered on every page which looks sloppy. Another problem is that episode 44 with the Large XviD encoding is out of sync a bit.

The reason I download the episodes over streaming them is that the quality is just a lot more enjoyable and full screen flash in higher bitrates/resolutions gets choppy.

The problem with downloading the episodes that I keep forgetting to get next episodes and have to wait (even though I can download them at 1.3MB/sec and get them in 3 to 4 minutes).

So, the idea is to just create a downloader that crawls the pages and downloads the episodes you want without having to think about it.

If you’d like a tool like that, just let me know (maybe digg the story or leave a message) and I’ll be sure to share the tool here.
