Subject: I am Legend

Yesterday I had the pleasure of watching the new Will Smith movie "I am legend". After watching the movie, I just knew I had to write a little something about it. I've spent quite some time on how to name this article. Subjects like "I am NOT Tom Hanks" and "Cast Away gone Sci-Fi" came to mind, but might be confusing without reading some more.

For those of you who have not seen the movie yet, a trailer has been shown extensively on Dutch television. In this trailer, they show Will Smith, alone in New York, having some fun. While watching the beginning of the movie, I still felt like I was about to watch a comedy, and looking forward to it. A few minutes in, you kind of get a hint to what you are about to witness; a doctor announces on TV that she has found a cure for cancer by modifying the measles virus into a cancer curing virus. All 1000+ human trials were successful... at first. A bit further along into the movie, you learn that this is a mixture between Resident Evil (virus creates zombie like mutations) and Cast Away. While I loved Cast Away, I hated the scenes where Will Smith acts like a psycho while talking to dummies and emptying a full clip on one. A fun highlight of this movie was the part where Will imitates Shrek.

Overall, I can recommend you to watch this movie, but it's better to go in prepared.
