No more MP3 for WiiToday, a new update arrived for the Nintendo Wii. The update changes the photo and shoppingchannel.
The following changes were made to the shoppingchannel:
- Send Virtual Console games to friends as a gift
- New software for the shopping channel will now be anounced in the Wii menu.
These are the changes made to the photo channel:
- Set your favorite picture as the icon for the photo channel
- Backgroundmusic can no longer be in the Mpeg I Layer III (MP3) format. From now on, only AAC encoded audio is supported. The official reason is that AAC provides better quality at the same filesize as MP3.
- The new photo channel update (v1.0 -> v1.1) is also available via the shopping channel.
- Users that purchased a Wii with version 1.0 of the photo channel, who have updated to v1.1 can do a rollback to the original 1.0 version by removing the software from memory. Users who purchased a Wii that came with the v1.1 version won't be able to downgrade their version of the photo chanel.
