My drool list is stuff I'd love to get, but (sadly) can't afford.
Storage is something I can't get enough of. In my main machine, I have four 1TB Samsung Spinpoint F1 harddisks in RAID 10, the main OS disk is a 500GB Western Digital Caviar disk, and for extra storage, I have two Western Digital MyBook 1.5TB disks connected via USB.
For backups, I have a NAS that holds two Samsung 750GB harddisks in RAID 1, this is monstly for important stuff like sourcecodes.
You'd say that wtih all this storage, I should have more then enough, but the sad thing is, that I am always running out of storage. Like my dad, I can't seem to let go of stuff and don't want to throw things out.
To solve this, I'd love to get a nice 4U 19" Supermicro (HP or DELL will do also) server to hold 24x 2TB Seagate Barracuda XT ST32000641AS for a total of 48TB raw storage.
To enable RAID for these disks, I'd love to get a Areca ARC-1880-ix-24, the new RAID controller from Areca that supports 24x 6Gb SATA disks. This would make sure I won't run out of store for the next few years.
